Deokjeokdo Island
Fellow teachers and I took a weekend trip to an island not far off the west coast of the country. It was a 2hr ferry ride to get there - not bad at all! It was a 3day weekend, so a lot of foreigners (non-Koreans) went there for a mini-vacation. There wasn't much on the island by way of shops and restaurants, just a few convenience stores and some family-owned eat-ins. I had to work Monday, so I didn't get to stay the whole time, but I thoroughly enjoyed my time there!

explaining her secret water gun plan...which wasn't much of a secret :) |
waiting for directions of where to go |
"uh...does anyone know where we're supposed to go?" |
up the street towards the 7-11 and eat-ins |
down the street towards the beach |
the weather was a bit chilly, but we were ready for the beach! (with our Korean picture poses, of course!) |
an old playground overgrown by the beach |
a few brave ones ventured out into the water. it was cold!! |
the boats end up dry-docked during low tide. they can only be moved during high tide |
